Dermal fillers, or facial injections, enhance natural features and are ideal for reversing signs of aging. Dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid and inject it under the skin’s surface. This process brings water to the skin and plumps it up, pushing out wrinkles and fine lines. Dermal fillers can be used in a variety of different ways – including reducing signs of fatigue, sculpting the jawline and chin, smooth out wrinkles, and plump lips and cheeks.

Post-Care Instructions

We take all of the necessary steps during your in-office treatment to ensure you are comfortable and your treatments are effective and long-lasting. Below you will find post-care instruction for specific treatments. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly.

  • Please report to your Medical Professional immediately if you have increased pain, swelling, redness, blisters or itching following your treatment.

  • Do NOT touch, press, rub, or manipulate the implanted areas for six hours after treatment. This can cause irritation, sores or possible scarring.

  • Avoid vigorous exercise, sun and heat exposure for three days after treatment.

  • Avoid submerging head under water for a full 24 hours after midface treatment (cheek filler); this includes pools, beach, bathtub, hot tub, etc. You may still take a shower and wash your face normally with a gentle cleanser.

  • Please plan accordingly and avoid invasive procedures 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after dermal filler. That includes surgery & dental cleanings

  • Avoid Aspirin, Motrin, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E or any other essential fatty acids at least three days to one week after treatment. These items may increase bleeding and bruising.

  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplements, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods and cigarettes 24-48 hours after your treatment. These items may contribute to increased swelling or irritation.

  • Avoid the use of Retin-A or similar products (ex. Kinerase, Tazarac) two days after treatment to avoid increased irritation or redness.

  • Avoid cosmetic treatments such as laser, ultrasound, peels, facials or microdermabrasion for two weeks after treatment.

  • Try to avoid wearing makeup or lipstick until the day after treatment. Earlier use may cause pustules. If you must wear makeup, we recommend a good quality mineral makeup for the face or Aquaphor ointment for the lips.

  • Ice the treated areas 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off for the next 24 hours. NOTE: Never apply ice directly to the skin. Apply through a cloth.

  • Please remember one side may heal faster than the other side.

  • The filler may be malleable for 3-4 days. Avoid smoking if your lips are done for that time period, and if your cheeks are done, try to avoid sleeping on the side of your face.

  • It is recommended that a follow-up appointment be made for two weeks after the initial treatment.
