Dysport, Jeuveau, Botox & Xeomin

What's The Difference?

Botox has long been used as a catch-all term for injectable neuromodulators, but here at Allura, we offer four different options: Dysport, Jeuveau, Botox, and Xeomin. All of these are able to relax muscles by temporarily blocking neurological signals – and all are effective at reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Dysport, Jeuveau, Botox, and Xeomin all contain botulinum toxin type A as the active compound, however, they each vary slightly in dosage, how much they spread once injected, and how quickly they show results.

Post-Care Instructions

We take all of the necessary steps during your in-office treatment to ensure you are comfortable and your treatments are effective and long-lasting. Below you will find post-care instruction for specific treatments. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly.

  • Please report to your provider any increased pain, swelling, redness, blisters, or itching immediately, should it occur following your treatment.

  • Refrain from vigorous exercise for at least 24 hours following treatment.

  • Avoid Aspirin, Motrin, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or any other essential fatty acids at least three days to one week after treatment. These items may increase bleeding and bruising.

  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods, and cigarettes 24-48 hours after your treatment. These items may contribute to increased swelling or irritation.

  • Avoid the use of Retin-A or similar products (ex. Kinerase, Tazarac) two days after treatment to avoid increased irritation or redness.

  • Avoid cosmetic treatments such as laser, ultrasound, facials or microdermabrasion for two weeks after treatment with Dysport®, Botox®, Jeuveau® or Xeomin®.

  • Try to avoid wearing makeup until the day after treatment. Earlier use may cause pustules. If you must wear makeup we recommend a good quality mineral makeup for the face.

  • Avoid wearing hats or headbands after treatment.

  • The wrinkle relaxer treatment may take 10-14 days to take full effect. It is recommended that the touchup, if needed, be done no later than two weeks after the initial treatment.
